Sydney-based label Sass & Bide first cracked the New York market back in the early aughts, when its party-girl pieces (like the pioneeringly low-rise East Village jeans) landed at Barneys and on Carrie Bradshaw. Now, on November 20, co-founders Sarah-Jane Clarke and Heidi Middleton will finally open a U.S. storefront (480 Broome St., at Wooster St.; 212-226-8190). The gallerylike space is anchored by a giant, white, driftwood-inspired sculpture, from Brooklyn-based design collective Guild, that winds up and around pristine racks of the brand’s signature spray-on denim (from $270), sequin-embroidered tuxedo blazers ($490), and laser-cut leather peplum tops ($590). Ten specially made pieces, including a leather-trimmed houndstooth sweaterdress, will be exclusive to the Soho location.
