For this week’s “Don’t Dillydally,” we’ve surfaced a range of things we’re sure will sell out, including a Malibu Barbie–themed makeup collection with ColourPop, limited-edition beach towels from Brooklinen, and a new A24 candle that smells like metallic mist.
ColourPop x Malibu Barbie
Malibu Barbie turns 50 this year, and she has been on a collaboration spree to celebrate. There’s retro pool floats with Funboy, brightly colored bathing suits with L*Space, and now a Malibu-themed makeup collection with ColourPop. The collection includes everything one might need for a full face, including false lashes to help you mimic Barbie’s eye shape, a 15-pan eye-shadow palette that features bright, poppy shades, and a bronze highlighter that is meant to give skin a dewy glow. The collection goes on sale tomorrow at 10 a.m. PT, and if ColourPop’s previous limited-edition drops are any indication, it’ll go quick. So if you see something you like, we recommend setting an alarm to be safe.
Floyd
Floyd, which makes some of our favorite affordable furniture, launched the Outdoor Set just in time for warmer weather. The collection is made up of outdoor-furniture basics that could work in spaces of all sizes and includes two types of tables (a smaller square one and a bigger rectangular one), a bench, and stackable chairs. Everything is made from a durable aluminum steel designed to withstand the elements and is powder-coated in four nice-looking shades. You can purchase items separately or in a set. The smallest configuration — two stackable chairs and a rectangular table — starts at $1,055.
Isabelle Feliu x Brooklinen
Brooklinen has collaborated with Norway-based artist Isabelle Feliu on beach towels that we think are verifiable objets d’art. There are two in the collection — “Daybreak” and “Moonscape” — which feature similar wavy, curvy, color-blocked scenes in either warm- or cool-toned hues. Slightly thicker than Brooklinen’s classic towel, the beach towel has a weight of 600 grams per square meter (for reference, the classic is 550 GSM) and a supersoft velour front.
Fellow
Another Strategist-favorite brand, Fellow has released a French press to enhance your morning brew. It works like all other French presses before it but has some thoughtful details that justify the $99 price tag — like a built-in coffee-grounds-to-water ratio aid, a spout that pours from every direction, an agitation stick to move the coffee grounds around, and double insulation to maintain a consistent temperature throughout. Currently, it’s available in two colors: matte black and black with walnut accents.
Bravo’s Top Chef x Hedley & Bennett
If you’ve ever pretended to be on Top Chef while making sheet-pan vegetables, you can now own a limited-edition apron created in collaboration with the chef- and Strategist-beloved Hedley & Bennett. This is the exact apron contestants will be wearing on the show this season, so you’ll match, whether you’re looking to channel their energy in the kitchen or just to steal their outfits. The colors are a riff on the Top Chef logo, and the apron comes in charcoal with splashes of orange thrown in. It’s currently available for preorder and is expected to ship at the end of May.
A24 x Joya
With “Fantasy,” A24 has expanded its popular genre candle collection in anticipation of the forthcoming film The Green Knight. The candle has a misty, metallic scent, with notes of armoise, birch tar, Virginia cedarwood, clove bud, and vanilla beans. The collection is made in collaboration with Brooklyn-based fragrance studio Joya, which makes some of our favorite nice-smelling-but-affordable candles.
Paper Project x Mitsu
To celebrate AAPI Heritage Month, Paper Project (which makes all of its offerings from paper yarn) has collaborated with Japanese artist and designer Mitsu on a unisex tie-dyed collection. It includes socks, a T-shirt, shorts, and boxers, all dyed by hand and thus all one of a kind. We like these socks, which come in a muted orange and gray shade and would look nice with just about anything. A portion of Paper Project’s monthly sales will go to the Japan Society, which exhibits art and hosts events.
The Strategist is designed to surface the most useful, expert recommendations for things to buy across the vast e-commerce landscape. Some of our latest conquests include the best acne treatments, rolling luggage, pillows for side sleepers, natural anxiety remedies, and bath towels. We update links when possible, but note that deals can expire and all prices are subject to change.
