For this week’s “Don’t Dillydally” we’ve surfaced a range of things we’re sure will sell out — including Shay Mitchell’s first luggage line for kids, Big Bud Press’s very own candle, and Dyson’s latest less-damaging hairstyling tool.
Status-y candle brand Boy Smells released their latest collection, which is supposed to smell like a garden full of fresh summer produce. Cheekily named Rinder, it has sweet top notes of carrot, casaba nectar, bergamot; middle notes of violet, watermelon rind, and galbanum; and base notes of cedar, amber, and spicy patchouli for a more complex scent.
Yesterday, Material came out with a new version of our best overall cutting board, beloved by Strategist cooking and dining writer Emma Wartzman, food stylists, and cookbook authors. Featuring silicone corners, the “grippy” reBoard won’t budge even on slick countertops or against vigorous chopping. Like the original, the board itself is made from recycled kitchen scraps and renewable sugarcane.
Our colleagues over at Eater launched their merch store today, which is full of retro-inspired shirts, notebooks, and baseball caps. Also available is this exclusive bright-red version of Takenaka’s best-selling (and Strategist favorite) bento box. It has two air-tight levels (they’re soup-proof), a removable partition, and a secure strap.
For AAPI month, Fly By Jing collaborated with Wing On Wo & Co., the oldest store in New York City’s Chinatown, on a set of one-of-a-kind porcelain soup spoons. Artist Singha Hon drew inspiration from the classic blue-and-white Qing Hua pattern while incorporating symbols like rabbits to celebrate the Year of the Rabbit, and peaches and lightning bolts to represent both brands. You can buy a set of four on Fly By Jing’s site, or individual spoons at Wing On Wo & Co.’s site.
Dagne Dover, makers of our favorite carry-ons, work bags, and fanny packs, released their Dreamland collection yesterday. The drop includes limited-edition colors and prints of their best-selling backpack and duffle, their debut silk scarf, and their first-ever keychains. This one is a mini-version of their popular Dakota backpack for carrying AirPods, credit cards, cash, and other small items.
Back in 2019, Shay Mitchell’s luggage brand Béis made its foray into diaper bags, so this line geared toward kids seems like a natural next step. Out today, this collection has rolling luggage, backpacks, lunch boxes, and neck pillows in cheery colors meant to stand out in busy airport crowds. The child-friendly size Kids Roller comes complete with 360-degree rolling wheels, a silicone grip handle, and a soft front pocket fit for an iPad.
Magazine-slash-clothing-brand HommeGirls teamed up with J.Crew on a seven-piece capsule of classic shirts and accessories reimagined by designer and HommeGirls founder Thakoon Panichgul. The cream roll-neck sweater and baseball cap have already sold out, but we found this reworked sleeveless button-up is still available in all sizes (for now).
Dyson Straightener
Dyson’s covetable hair tools are known for being beauty-editor-approved work horses. This week, the brand released its newest addition to its lineup: the Airstrait Straightener. Like their other products, it comes at a hefty price, but that’s because its airflow technology (rather than more common hot plates) allows you to both dry and straighten your hair without heat damage.
The Strategist is designed to surface the most useful, expert recommendations for things to buy across the vast e-commerce landscape. Some of our latest conquests include the best acne treatments, rolling luggage, pillows for side sleepers, natural anxiety remedies, and bath towels. We update links when possible, but note that deals can expire and all prices are subject to change.
