What Rapper Big Freedia Can’t Live Without

If you’re like us, you’ve probably wondered what famous people add to their carts. Not the JAR brooch and Louis XV chair but the hairspray and the electric toothbrush. We asked rapper Big Freedia — whose memoir, Big Freedia: God Save the Queen Diva!, recently came out in paperback — about the tequila, moisturizer, and candle she can’t live without.

Lume Cube Panel Mini
$65

I’ve been using it since before the pandemic to light me up and make that glow happen. This light is just right. No shadows or dark spots. I need it for my virtual stuff, and even for doing my makeup. It comes in handy a lot, and you can attach it to just about anything.

Cuisinart Toaster Oven Airfryer
$150
$150

My godparents gave this to me about three years ago, and I’ve been using it ever since. It makes everything taste better. You can put anything in there: chicken, pork chops, steak, vegetables, whatever. Throw it in, and the oven kind of does its own work. Whatever it is comes out really nicely and doesn’t take too long.

It smells amazing and has my house smelling off the chain. I have one by my front door on my foyer table and more all throughout the house. I have five dogs, so I have to make sure I keep some good smells flowing in here.

Goody Bobby Pins
$1
$1

A girl always needs a bobby pin. They come in handy at the weirdest moments, whether I’m putting my hair together, pinning a little piece to my head, or need to clean my ears. My aunt used to lay us on her lap and clean our ears with them. She would use a bobby pin to get in there, and it would feel so good.

A lot of the makeup artists I work with use it as a base for makeup. I found myself starting to use it more and then it became my everyday moisturizer. It works perfectly, especially for makeup. On days that I don’t wear makeup, I’ll put a little on my face for moisture.

I used to be heavy on peach-flavored Ciroc, but now I’m on Patron. The Ciroc gave me hangovers, and the Patron doesn’t. I do Patron margaritas. My manager was a bartender for six years, and he makes the best ones. He knows just how I like them. But I also drink this straight. I keep a bottle in my cabinet at all times.

I’m always referencing the book, or using an example from it, or explaining something about my life. From childhood to being an adult, it shares experiences that will live with me forever. It’s my story, and I can’t live without that.
