Another big sales event has hit Ulta’s virtual shelves. The “Love Your Skin” sale started last week and is packed with hundreds of on-sale skin-brightening and moisture-boosting, serums, creams, and more. Here’s how it works: Each week of the sale features 30 percent off products from popular brands, and each day, you’ll find a small selection of items that are 50 percent off for 24 hours only. The good news: You can preview all of the deals in advance on the sale’s landing page. The bad news: There’s a lot to sift through.
That’s where I come in. I’ve gone through all of this week’s deals to find the very best ones (of note: Kate Somerville lip balm, everything from Mario Badescu, and the Solawave). I’ve not included any of the half-off daily deals, since they’ll change quickly, but you can see each day’s deals here. Amazon is price-matching most of the deals, too, so I’ve included those links where applicable.
Next week, from Sunday, January 12, through Saturday, January 18, a whole new selection of skin care will be 30 percent off, including select Clinique moisturizers, Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost collection, and more. I’ll be back to update my sales picks when those deals drop, so come back for more then. Every Mario Badescu product is on sale, including its rosewater face mist — a perennial Strategist favorite (that’s also beloved by celebrities). Rosewater and aloe are both soothing ingredients, and thyme helps to clarify and brighten skin.
The brand’s salicylic acid and sulfur spot treatment is an effective acne treatment, according to dermatologists.
There are quite a few vitamin C products on sale at Ulta. This one is a favorite of Sutton Foster thanks to its ultrasmooth, oil-like texture. It feels “like little vitamins for my skin,” she says.
This is beauty writer Tembe Denton-Hurst’s favorite glossy lip balm with SPF. It has a “thick, nourishing feel and stays on for an impressively long time.” It’s almost as shiny as her favorite Summer Fridays balm, but just a touch thinner.
If you enjoy giving your face a good scrubbing, drag queen Farrah Moan recommends this Kate Somerville exfoliating cleanser.
I’m intrigued by this sulfur-forward cleanser that dermatologist (and one of our go-to skin experts) Dr. Idriss recommends for sebaceous filaments.
“I love getting facials with Kate Somerville, so it’s nice to be able to indulge in this at home,” says actress and director Shiri Appleby of the brand’s Wrinkle Warrior serum. “It doesn’t leave any stickiness — my skin just soaks it up and feels hydrated.”
This nonirritating, on-the-go facial hair-removal tool approved by Emma Roberts is now under $15. “It’s painless, so discreet, and so easy. I find that my serums and foundation lie much flatter and look better when I have an exfoliated, clean face,” she says.
Loops’ brightening face masks will perk up your skin in just ten minutes. (At 30 percent off, you’re getting the same discount the brand offered during Black Friday.)
This cult-y Japanese cleansing oil — that you may recognize from the Strategist Beauty 100 — gently removes makeup and happens to be “one of the best products for getting rid of stubborn blackheads,” according to Strategist beauty columnist Rio Viera-Newton.
Strategist readers have purchased this night cream thousands of times. It’s formulated with antioxidant-rich ingredients that protect and fortify the skin barrier, including organic olive oil, squalene, hydrolyzed collagen, and vitamin E.
DHC’s makeup primer is especially good for oily skin types, according to makeup artist Shaina Ehrlich. She tends to apply it around the T-zone, where it “mattifies the skin perfectly” without making it appear cakey or dry. I found it for even cheaper at Amazon — 35 percent off!
Solawave’s actually effective microcurrent wand is also a teeny bit cheaper at the brand’s website, but I’ve included here anyway because it’s a good deal no matter where you buy it.
The Strategist is designed to surface useful, expert recommendations for things to buy across the vast e-commerce landscape. Every product is independently selected by our team of editors, whom you can read about here. We update links when possible, but note that deals can expire and all prices are subject to change.
