One of Whistler’s quirkiest outdoor spots isn’t easy to find. Located almost eight miles southwest of the Village in Function Junction, the Train Wreckthe site of a train derailment in the late 1950s, where seven freight cars that jumped the tracks still liehas evolved into a makeshift bike park, with impressive jumps and ramps. It’s also become an unlikely outdoor art exhibit, with prominent graffiti artists including Chili Thom (Whistler’s version of Banksy) transforming the cars’ rusted exteriors. To access the Train Wreck, park near Olives Community Market; it’s easiest to ask a local for directions to the nearly two-mile trail leading to it.
