Chris Harris & Brian Conroy
Ceremony: Binney Park, Old Greenwich, Connecticut
Second ceremony/reception: Stage 6 at Steiner Studios
April 24, 2010
Just one year after Chris Harris and Brian Conroy struck up a conversation on Fire Island after getting separated from their respective friends, the two were back on Fire Island when Chris, 40, surprised Brian, 30, by suggesting a walk on the beach. “I thought it was slightly odd, since it was a windy night,” Brian says. “We were just fifteen feet past the boardwalk when Chris got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.” Eight months later, they had a ceremony at Binney Park in Old Greenwich, attended by about twenty family members, followed by a second ceremony and dance party in Brooklyn with 260 guests. Their favorite Fire Island D.J., Vito Fun, presided over the party, with some help: “Brian’s friend from the gay football league who works as a drag queen—her stage name is Jackie Dupree—came and performed ‘Killing Me Softly With His Song,’ and ‘Million Dollar Bill,’ by Whitney Houston,” explains Chris. “I think she was the highlight of the party. She kept trying to sing, like, five songs, but Brian wouldn’t let her.”

“For appetizers we had lobster-and-corn soufflé and a mixed greens salad with gorgonzola. The main course was either beef tenderloin or Chilean sea bass. Everyone was raving about the food, but we didn’t eat any of it”we were too busy dancing.”
