The Peripatetic Hot Young Thing

Once a week, Daily Intel takes a peek at what your friends and neighbors are doing behind doors left slightly ajar. Today, the Peripatetic Hot Young Thing: female, 20, Soho, food-manufacturing administrator, straight.

DAY ONE
Midnight: Party at my house.
1:00 a.m.: Roommate’s friend tries to hook up with me, as he generally does when he’s drunk.
2:00 a.m.: Matt arrives. Two weeks ago I was totally crushing on him and we still have that awkward sexual energy.
3:00 a.m.: We leave together to visit a friend in Brooklyn.
7:00 a.m.: He begs me to stay out longer and come over, but I decide to be a responsible adult and come home.

DAY TWO
2:30 p.m.: My ex Josh IMs me. Josh is that guy I can never shake — he’s from my hometown, and I lost my virginity to him when I was 17. It was truly a mindfuck. Our sex is like out of a movie, flawless as if choreographed. It’s bizarre how after so long he remembers exactly how I like to be touched.
2:45 p.m.: We IM about how we have perfect sex. We rarely talk about our relationship seriously. We always drink when we hang out so that we can blame the alcohol when we kiss, knowing perfectly well that we are both sober.

DAY THREE
3:00 p.m.: I bartend at a psytrance party in Queens with two really cute guys. My shift was two hours, and we end up bartending together for nine.
4:40 p.m.: Matt texts, “How is your party.”
7:42 p.m.: My latest ex texts that he is at an awesome after-party, wishes I were there. Texts again at 9:27, 9:48, and 9:52.

DAY FOUR
Noon: Graphic online flirtation with friend Sam in San Francisco. He is a high-school teacher and is chatting with me like this while teaching a class.
1:13 p.m.: The CEO of a fashion company I met in December texts. I have been flaking on plans since.
2:10 p.m.: We make a date.
3:46 p.m.: Mike, who created the party on Saturday, and I make a date for this week. We hooked up once and made out several times since. When he takes me home, he makes out with me on the doorstep for a while, but in public it’s strictly platonic.

DAY FIVE
10:30 a.m.: More graphic flirting with teacher friend Sam. He says he is giving a test. He also comments that he has a hard/awkward time getting up after our conversations. Knowing he is in class teaching is a giant turn-on.
8:30 p.m.: Head to the bar. After downing several $3.50 drinks with friends, I call Mike and make plans with him to go out Friday. He says he is impressed that I can actually pick up a phone and call someone instead of text.

DAY SIX
9:30 p.m.: Meet the CEO at Ono. He is at a business dinner that I catch the end of. Though I hadn’t seen him in months, he is still all over me and won’t let go of my hand. When we leave the dinner, we go to the bar for drinks. He keeps kissing me, telling me he loves my lower lip.
11:00 p.m.: We head back to his gorgeous place for a drink. He starts kissing me and says he can’t wait to make love to me. I tell him he must wait. He is persistent but says he will respect that. He keeps kissing me and trying to get further with me.
11:30 p.m.: Josh IMs me, telling me that he misses me.
11:45 p.m.: I tell the CEO that I have to work tomorrow and leave. He asks to take me out again next week and I agree.

DAY SEVEN

11:00 a.m.: More graphic online flirting with teacher Sam. It goes on all day.
4:00 p.m.: Sam lets me know that he will be in New York for a math conference in April. I ask him if he wants me to take him out. He says he doesn’t think we’ll make it out of the hotel.
6:00 p.m.: I get home from work. Sam calls and harasses me about the “hard” time I gave him in class today.
9:00 p.m.: Call ex. He tells me he misses me. We talk for half an hour as I wait for Mike at 34th Street.
10:00 p.m.: Meet Mike to go back to the space where the party was last Saturday. I leave early (around three). He says “bye,” and I kiss him on the cheek.
3:30 a.m.: I text Mike and thank him for inviting me out, that I had a good time and would really like to hang out. Ten minutes later he texts me back saying the he would “be down” for hanging out and that we should do it on a weeknight when things aren’t crazy with the parties. I text him back saying he is confusing. He asks how. I felt daring and told him because I can never tell what he wants from me. I haven’t heard from him since.

Total: Excessive texting, two graphic IM sessions, one make-out session.
