Following an outcry that included many of his own colleagues, John Derbyshire has been let go by the National Review. As the Atlantic Wire put it, the longtime columnist “doesn’t write the [emphasis ours] most racist stuff on the Internet,” but he has made a career out sidling right up to the line. However, his most recent effort, an incredibly racist essay for Taki Magazine pegged to the Trayvon Martin shooting (sample sentence: “Do not attend events likely to draw a lot of blacks.”) seems to have finally done him in.
