As you might have heard, Vice-President Joe Biden still doesn’t know what he’ll be doing in 2016. Whether Biden will reach a decision in time for the first Democratic presidential debate on October 13 is unclear, but host CNN wants him to know that they’ll hold his spot until the last possible minute. On Monday, the network announced that in order to be eligible for the debate, a candidate must only average one percent in the national polls (not a problem for Biden) and “file a statement of candidacy or publicly state that a statement of candidacy will be filed with the Federal Election Commission by Oct. 14, 2015.” If nothing else, surprising Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders (plus Jim Webb and Lincoln Chafee) onstage in Nevada would be a fun way to kick off a campaign.
