Federal prosecutors say he threatened to punish those who didn't assist in what they have described as his two-decade sex trafficking scheme. Combs, who is charged with sex trafficking, has denied all of the accusations.
Anthony Ricco filed a motion Thursday in a New York City court, saying “under no circumstances can I continue to effectively serve as counsel for Sean Combs.”
The hip-hop stars' attorneys said they were shown videos that prosecutors plan to use as evidence but that the tapes don't depict any illegal activity.
The judge ruled that that "no condition or combination of conditions will reasonably assure the safety of the community” if the music mogul was released.
His lawyers argued that seizing the music mogul's notes violated attorney-client privilege. Federal officials allege he was trying to obstruct justice from behind bars.
