Good Grad Gift: A (44 Percent Off) Desk Lamp That Masquerades As a Notebook

We’ve been fans of the Lumio desk lamp since it debuted in 2013 after a wildly successful Kickstarter campaign. (It was featured on this magazine’s Best Bets page soon after.) Here’s how it works: When shut, the Lumio appears to be a hardcover book, and can be stowed away in a drawer. When open, it transforms into an origami-inspired desk lamp that gives off a pleasant (and fairly strong) glow courtesy of an LED bulb. (There are no cords and it features a rechargeable lithium-ion battery.) The lamp can also open to 360 degrees and be hung from the ceiling for a more permanent approach. If you’re stumped on what to give the grad in your life, this is a better bet than a copy of Oh, the Places You’ll Go.
