Editor’s note: The YETI Hopper Flip Portable Cooler is no longer on sale for Prime Day, but check out some of our other favorite deals here.
We’ve already crowned the Yeti as the best cooler money can buy. And what that money buys is essentially a mini-fridge with a convenient over-the-shoulder strap.
All of the Yeti coolers are UV-resistant, mildew-resistant, leak-proof, and practically disaster-proof. The Hopper Flip 18 model, in particular, is also the perfect size: It can fit plenty of snacks plus a few bottles of water, but is still lightweight enough to comfortably schlep all the way to your Fire Island getaway. Or, if you prefer a purely liquid diet when you go to the beach, it can fit 16 cans plus ice. The green-and-tan colorway feels also appropriately militaristic. This is a serious cooler, designed to handle whatever the elements throw your way.
I’ve witnessed the Yeti’s magic firsthand. In my family, the heavy-duty cooler is a revered object, treated with the utmost respect and care. When it first came into our home, I couldn’t believe my parents threw that much down on a cooler. But after taking it camping, on boat trips, road trips, and many a beach day, I changed my tune. My mom has packed the Yeti with frozen food (sans ice), driven it four hours north to my brother’s dorm room in Boston, and arrived with everything still at a food-safe temperature. I have, with great confidence, eaten shrimp cocktail on the beach out of the Yeti cooler after it has baked in the sun for eight straight hours. And then washed it down with an ice cold beer, kept frosty, of course, by our beloved Yeti.
And while it may feel like summer is already slipping through our fingers, we are technically at the height of beachgoing/camping/picnicking season, with many scorching days ahead. And there is no better companion to take along with you into the great outdoors than the Yeti. Yes, it is wildly expensive. At 30 percent off, it still comes in at a cool $210 (which, for the record, is the cheapest we’ve ever seen it.) Not exactly affordable, but the Yeti is a status cooler for a reason. I don’t yet have one to call my own but, at this price, today may be the day that changes.
