If you’re an air-fryer skeptic, maybe this on-sale model — marked down from $130 to only $90 — will change your mind.
Made by Instant, it’s a slight variation on the one we named the best overall air fryer, which made cookbook author Julia Turshen a convert. (The main differences are that it has more presets and a stainless-steel basket instead of a clear front). Turshen, who now uses her Instant nearly every day, says convenience is a big factor: It gets hot quickly, cooks food without overheating her kitchen, fits more than a skillet, and doesn’t create splatter on the stove. It’s also particularly durable, a fact that Jenny Tschiesche, founder of Lunchbox Doctor and author of an air-frying cookbook, can attest to. Her entire family uses it frequently, and after more than two years, it’s still in great shape.
While this model is a bit smaller than the one we featured, it still offers a well-considered ratio of height to width with a large square footage at the bottom, instead of accounting for most of its capacity in height, as many others do. That way, you can lay your food in a single layer and avoid overcrowding, resulting in that signature crisp, evenly cooked texture.
