AeroGarden Is Going Out of Business, and Its Smart Gardens Are Half Off

AeroGarden, the maker of my absolute favorite smart garden, is going out of business next month. It’s sad news — I don’t know of another smart garden this inexpensive and reliable — and it also means that its remaining stock is on deep sale. A ton of models are 50 percent off on Amazon, and the Sprout, its smallest model, is discounted to just $30. (If you’re wondering whether the Sprout will work when AeroGarden closes shop, it will — you don’t need an app to operate it, and although the brand sells seed-pod refills, you can DIY them. Search for “grow sponges” and fill them with your own seeds.) My calculus is that if you’ve bought a bundle of grocery-store herbs that has wilted before you could finish it, this machine will pay for itself within a year; at this price, you’re saving money after a couple months.
