Editor’s note: Prime Day has officially started, so we’re no longer updating this roundup of early Prime Day deals. Instead, head over to our roundup of all the best Amazon Prime Day 2023 deals here.
Amazon Prime Day officially starts tomorrow on Tuesday, July 11, and runs through Wednesday, July 12, but real deal-watchers know that the early Prime Day deals have been rolling in steadily over the last week — and honestly, they’re better than we’ve seen in the past. During this pre-Prime Day period, you’ll usually the best discounts on Amazon’s own devices and in-house brands — and there’s certainly a fair number of Kindles and other smart-home devices on-sale. But there’s a whole slate of Prime-exclusive discounts that have caught my eye, many of which are on brands that we’ve written about extensively on the Strategist, like our favorite air purifier and a really good water flosser. (As a reminder: You need to be an Amazon Prime member to get these deals. It costs $14.99 per month or $139 per year —and if you’re still on the fence, you can sign up for a free 30-day trial now that’ll last through Prime Day.)
Amazon will release thousands of additional discounts tomorrow, starting at 3 A.M. ET — some of which are already getting teased on Amazon’s Prime Day hub page. (I spotted the cult-y NuFace, a YETI drinks holder, and a relationship-saving Eufy robot vacuum.) But if you don’t want to have to dig through all of the deals yourself, we’ve got you covered. We’ll be rounding up the best discounts in just about every category, from fashion to home goods.
However, I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the early deals that we’ve already found, since some of the discounts are as steep as we’ve ever seen. (Take, for instance, Apple’s AirPods Max. They’re just $450 right now, which is the cheapest we’ve ever seen — especially for an in-demand Apple product.) If you want real-time Prime Day updates, sign up for our email newsletter. In the meantime, here are some of the best early Prime Day deals to whet your appetite.
Best Early Beauty Deals
I’m predicting this will be an especially good Prime Day for beauty deals after seeing all the Strategist-approved products already on sale, like Rio Viera-Newton’s favorite CosRX snail mucin essence and our favorite less-expensive electric razor.
Best Early Amazon Device Deals
Prime Day is always the best time to get the best deals on Amazon devices — like our favorite mesh Wi-Fi system and a handful of Fire TV–enabled TVs that are as cheap as we’ve ever seen. You can find more Amazon devices, and even more tech, here.
Best Early Tech Deals
In this same vein are savings on unsexy basics from Amazon’s in-house line, like batteries, cables, and wall chargers. But if you dig, you can also find our favorite air purifier from Coway (that I’ve been using since 2019) and Apple’s AirPods Max for the cheapest we’ve seen them in a long time. Find the rest of our tech deals here.
Best Early Home Deals
I found lighting, candles, and a handsome jute rug in the home section.
Best Early Kitchen Deals
In the kitchen section, you’ll find good deals on cookware from Amazon’s Basics line, plus a few Strategist-approved products like OXO’s cold brew coffee maker.
Best Early Travel Deals
You can usually find a bit of Samsonite luggage on sale at Amazon, and for Prime Day there are some nice sets in the mix. All other travel gear is from Amazon Basics — including a pretty good dupe of our favorite pet carrier.
Best Early Amazon Fashion Deals
The fashion deals so far are pretty much exclusively from Amazon’s in-house lines — including some surprisingly in-season picks from Daily Ritual.
Best Early Baby & Kid Deals
Deals so far in the kid section include the pint-size Kindle I featured above, toys from Melissa & Doug, lots of Barbies, a selection of children’s’ books, and cute apparel from brands like Carter’s and Hanna Andersson.
Best Invite-Only Prime Deals
Here’s something new for 2023: On the Prime Day landing page, Amazon has added an “invite only” section, which is a small selection of very good deals that are only available in limited quantities. You have to submit a request to buy these items, and then during Prime Day you’ll have to check your email to see if you were selected to be able to shop the exclusive discounts. We have no idea how limited these deals are, but there’s no harm in signing up.
The Strategist is designed to surface the most useful, expert recommendations for things to buy across the vast e-commerce landscape. Some of our latest conquests include the best acne treatments, rolling luggage, pillows for side sleepers, natural anxiety remedies, and bath towels. We update links when possible, but note that deals can expire and all prices are subject to change.
