The Very Best Things to Buy at Dermstore’s (Very Good) Sale

Dermstore has some of the very best beauty and skin-care sales on the internet. The site doesn’t just slash the prices of products you’ve never heard of before and don’t really care to try — rather, it offers genuinely good deals on cult-favorite products like Dr. Dennis Gross’s Alpha Beta peel, Paris Fashion Week staple Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré, and Briogeo’s hydrating Don’t Despair, Repair! hair mask.

Until October 14, participating brands are offering up to 20 percent off and free shipping with the code “OHJOY.” As usual, there’s a lot to sort through, so if you need a little guidance, I’m here to help. Below, a list of my favorite skin care and hair care available at Dermstore’s sale.

This body oil from Fur has developed a huge following (Emma Watson, for one, loves it) for its ability to nourish skin, soften hair, and prevent ingrowns. And it also happens to double as lightweight yet effective hair treatment that softens and smooths dry or dead ends. A twofer!

No-crease clips are one of the beauty industry’s finest inventions, and now is a great time to snag yourself some cheaper ones. They are, you guessed it, clips that leave no creases or dents in your hair, meaning they’re ideal for washing your face or applying makeup.

This neutral, non-fussy French drugstore moisturizer gives your skin the perfect slip for makeup and is beloved by just about every makeup artist (from Hung Vanngo to Pat McGrath).

This lightweight, easy-to-spread chemical sunscreen from SPF-focused brand Supergoop! is completely clear, white-cast free, and will not break you out.

This nourishing, moisturizing serum is the first non-cleanser product from cleanser-focused brand HoliFrog. And it’s excellent: chock-full of antioxidants and squalane to protect, rejuvenate, and deeply hydrate your skin.

Allies of Skin makes incredible, high-quality, high-potency serums. This hyaluronic-acid serum uses a blend of HA, vitamin E, niacinamide, peptides, and plant stem cells to deeply hydrate, firm, smooth, and protect your skin.

This big ol’ jug of sunscreen is great for all over — it can be used both on your face and body. It’s also a great way to ensure everyone in your household is wearing SPF regularly!

This lovely, creamy milky wash from HoliFrog is a great way to clean your skin without stripping or irritating it. With a neutral pH of five and a formula that includes strengthening ingredients like algae, amino acids, and vitamin E, it’s an excellent neutral wash that’s especially great for dry or sensitive skin types.

This tinted SPF from Unsun Cosmetics is one of the best mineral sunscreens I’ve ever tried. Not only does it protect the skin from UVA and UVB rays, it also leaves an unbeatable beautiful, dewy glow to the skin. It comes in two shades: “light/medium” and “medium/dark.”

This mask from Briogeo is one of my slightly cheaper favorites for giving my hair a deep condition without leaving behind that heavy, sticky feeling. The formula uses rose-hip and argan oils, algae, and biotin to smooth, nourish, and hydrate dry hair.

This vitamin-C serum from Allies of Skin combines 25 percent ascorbic acid and 10 percent tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate (a less irritating form of vitamin C). The ultrapotent blend is a godsend for fading hyperpigmentation and giving your complexion that all-over luminous glow — which is why I find myself constantly recommending it to bride-to-be friends.

Whether you’re a fake blonde, a natural blonde, or have just a few highlights, this will help keep your hair nice and bright (and intensely moisturized).

Odds are you’ve heard me gush about this superstar, holy-grail-status essence from Cosrx. Snail mucin is truly a do-it-all ingredient: It helps moisturize, plump, firm, even out, and heal your complexion. Have a breakout? Snail mucin! Looking dry and dull? Snail mucin! It’s kind of my own version of the My Big Fat Greek Wedding dad’s Windex obsession.

This exfoliating treatment from Sunday Riley uses 5 percent lactic acid, as well as lemongrass and aloe, to buff away dead skin cells while delivering a boost of moisture and radiance to your complexion.

These AHA- and BHA-soaked exfoliating pads from Dr. Dennis Gross are definitely a celebrity favorite (Zoë Kravitz and Selena Gomez are both fans) for their ability to smooth, refine, and add radiance to your complexion after just a few uses.

The Strategist is designed to surface the most useful, expert recommendations for things to buy across the vast e-commerce landscape.
