The Gap’s Norma Kamali–esque Big Puff Is 50 Percent Off

Well, it’s over. My walk this morning required three layers of clothing and the heat pipe next to my writing desk is clanking away for the first time in ten months. Chilly weather has descended on New York City, which means that we’re scouting for coat deals. Here’s a very good one: The Gap’s Big Puff jacket, which very much resembles a Norma Kamali sleeping-bag coat, is 50 percent off. That brings the price down to $114 from $228.

This big, comfy sleeping bag of a jacket comes in black and taupe and is made from nylon and PrimaLoft, a synthetic insulator that experts have told me is just as warm as down (not to mention cruelty-free). There’s a generous hood and optional waist tie, as well as button and zip closure all the way down. Also: I’ve tested a lot of winter coats and parkas, and the Big Puff has two of the most underrated outerwear design features: fleece-lined pockets and thumbholes. Cozy, cozy, cozy. If you order now, you’ll be warm by next week.

The Strategist is designed to surface useful, expert recommendations for things to buy across the vast e-commerce landscape.
