Based on the cycles of the moon rather than the sun, Lunar New Year —which is typically celebrated in Asian countries including China, Vietnam, and South Korea — falls on January 29 this year (though festivities can last for several weeks, with lion dances, feasts, fireworks, and more). According to the Chinese zodiac calendar, 2025 is the Year of the Snake; I’ve already spotted plenty of brands drawing scaly inspiration from the mysterious and oft-misunderstood creature, which symbolizes wisdom, renewal, and transformation. I’ve rounded up all the new serpent-themed launches below, as well as some general décor and accessories to help usher in the celebrations — but definitely don’t dillydally, as many of these releases are limited edition and are likely to slither away soon.

Food and drink

Lady M’s Lunar New Year set includes 32 crêpe biscuits in four flavors: raspberry, vanilla, coconut, and chocolate orange. The packaging can be even be rearranged in the shape of a snake, the perfect centerpiece for a celebratory dinner.

All the zodiac signs can enjoy sampling Sugarfina’s Year of the Snake tasting collection. The set includes 12 different candies, each inspired by the traits and personalities of the 12 zodiac animals, made by artisanal candy-makers from around the world.

Crafted from purple clay, tea pets sit on the tray during tea ceremonies and are rinsed with tea, allowing them to develop a patina over time. Celebrate the Year of the Snake with this scaly tea pet from Upton Tea Imports, which can stand watch while you serve black tea that the brand sourced specially for Lunar New Year.

Mochi Gummies just released a limited-edition Lunar New Year gift box that contains a variety pack of the brand’s best-selling gummy flavors: strawberry, mango, tangerine, sour watermelon, yuzu, and peach.

Hedley & Bennett and Fly by Jing have teamed up to release a special Lunar New Year apron. It’s decorated with a cheerful bao illustrated by artist Nhi Nguyễn, as well as a special Year of the Snake label inspired by traditional red envelopes. If you want to take the festivities even further, you can purchase a gift bundle that includes the apron, a jar of Fly by Jing’s signature Sichuan chile crisp, and a recipe book written by founder Jing Gao.

While home-fragrance brand Blueme also dropped a votive candle set for the Year of the Snake, I found myself more intrigued by this scented fan — you give the fan a few spritzes with the fragrance spray and let it waft over you.

Avant-garde menswear brand LỰU ĐẠN just dropped a Year of the Snake capsule collection. Maybe don’t wear this tank around a proclaimed ophidiophobe, but other pieces in the collection draw inspiration from ’70s rock stars and horror cinema, like these faux python pants and this Kaiju tee.

My favorite pair from Zenni’s Year of the Snake collection are these bold red frames with a sinuous snake slithering along the rim.

Here’s a Lunar New Year pair of Birkenstock’s classic Arizona sandals, featuring luxurious red snake-embossed leather and gold buckles.
