For this week’s “Don’t Dillydally,” we’ve surfaced a range of new things we’re sure will sell out, including an olive oil made from Castelvetranos, a skin-barrier-repairing serum from a brand we love, and a totally trippy design of our favorite suitcases.
If you’ve never thought that hard about which particular type of olive goes into your olive oil, you’re not alone. But Brightland is looking to change that with a new variety made from Sicily-grown Castelvetranos. The brand describes the oil as rich, buttery, fruity, and peppery. Makes sense, given that everyone’s favorite snacking and martini olive hits all those notes when eaten whole.
In celebration of Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan, Our Place is selling a limited-edition version of the Always Pan. It comes in a pretty sage color (just a touch lighter than its usual green) and features an etched gold crescent moon and star on the top of the lid knob. Plus, 20 percent of profits will go to the Middle East Children’s Alliance.
Away has launched its latest design with festival season in mind (sure, it’s a thing). But whether or not you’re heading somewhere in the months ahead to watch days of live music, the sound-wave-inspired pattern — featured on its medium suitcase, bigger carry-on, packing cube set, and a tag and charm duo — is undeniably fun and trippy.
Rachel Comey’s spring collection was made in collaboration with legendary NYC artist Joan Jonas. Each set — which includes dresses, skirts, tees, and accessories — corresponds to given performance videos, drawings, sculptures, or installations by Jonas and take inspiration from everything from texture to color palettes.
If you’ve ever looked at your bowls and thought: Those would make nice lamp shades … well, you were right. Enter this somewhat unexpected but no-less-delightful collaboration between two brands we love: Schoolhouse and East Fork. They’ve created three light-fixture styles (a flush mount that comes in two sizes, a pendant that comes in two sizes, and the sconce seen here), each made from ceramic in the exact same style as East Fork’s signature dinnerware.
Siesto Co. makes tinned fish beloved by multiple Strategist staffers, and the brand has just released two sardine varieties to its lineup: these with yuzu koshō and another with spicy guindilla peppers, both packed with extra-virgin olive oil. Stock up: The tins make stellar-but-easy pantry lunches and dinners.
We love Youth to the People’s gel face wash — so it’s no surprise we’re eager to try its Superfood Skin Drip, a serum the brand is likening to a multivitamin for your face. More specifically, it’s meant to target uneven tone and support skin-barrier repair.
Another new release on the beauty scene: Supergoop’s Protec(tint), a lightweight-skin-tint-meets-SPF-50 sunscreen that comes in 14 shades. One Strategist staffer got her hands on an early sample and approves, saying it doesn’t leave her feeling like she has a ton of product on and works well as a tinted physical protectant without causing a white cast on dark skin (less so for full-on makeup coverage).
Malin+Goetz is an old-faithful brand among our staffers. And while most of the products we’ve written about before have impressed us with their effectiveness (like the shampoo and body scrub), the scents are always lovely too — hence why we’re excited for this bergamot candle. It’s big and luxurious, housed in a pretty amber glass vessel, with a slow burn that lasts for 180 hours.
LeSportsac has gained pretty iconic status over decades, turning out casual-but-sophisticated bags (we love its totes and travel bags). The brand’s latest partnership is with L.A.-based luxury fashion label Libertine, whose bold, graphic patterns give the classic bags a decidedly punchy twist.
The Strategist is designed to surface the most useful, expert recommendations for things to buy across the vast e-commerce landscape. Some of our latest conquests include the best acne treatments, rolling luggage, pillows for side sleepers, natural anxiety remedies, and bath towels. We update links when possible, but note that deals can expire and all prices are subject to change.
