Eliot and Silda Wall Spitzer Are Finally Getting Divorced

In a joint Christmas Eve statement, the former New York governor and the woman who very generously stood next to him as he resigned over a prostitution scandal confirmed what everyone already knew: “We regret that our marital relationship has come to an end and we have agreed not to make any other public statement on this subject.” That left Spitzer officially free to spend Christmas with his new girlfriend, Bill de Blasio’s spokeswoman Lis Smith.
