Technically, every week since August 15, 2007, has been a week in which Darrelle Revis did not sign a new contract with the Jets, but it didn’t really matter until his current holdout began. Is it all Al Davis’s fault? Perhaps, but either way, Woody Johnson has a gut feeling that Revis won’t play this year. At least all the drama — and their quotable coach — helps make the Jets perfect for Hard Knocks — the premiere of which saw Mike Tannenbaum declare himself a “failure” for the whole Revis situation. (Not that any of the Giants were watching.) But what happened this week that didn’t involve diners in Sullivan County?
Isiah Thomas didn’t return to the Knicks after all. He also didn’t appear on Michael Kay’s radio show.
The Mets, who need to win a lot of games to make the playoffs, won two of three from Colorado. Francisco Rodriguez’s week didn’t go quite as well.
The Yankees split with Boston and Texas, then beat Kansas City last night.
Ilya Kovalchuk became a free agent again.
Nike hid LeBron from angry New Yorkers.
We sang the praises of U.S. Open qualifying matches.
And we spent a night at the roller derby.
That’s it for us. Have a nice weekend.
