After the Nuggets’$2 115–99 loss to the Nets last night, Carmelo Anthony refuted the report from last month that Amar’e Stoudemire texted Anthony to tell him he “wants him in New York.” Previously, Stoudemire had danced around the question of whether he sent any messages, but Anthony said yesterday that “I didn’t get that text.” (Of course, this doesn’t mean that Amar’e doesn’t want Anthony to join him on the Knicks; it merely means he didn’t send him a text message last month saying as much, as Adrian Wojnarowski’s source said he did.) In any case, Anthony’s visit to Newark meant answering some questions about the trade to the Nets that never happened. And if you were wondering if Anthony would have signed that extension with the Nets, you’re still wondering today. Said Anthony: “As far as the extension, if that trade were to go through, who knows what would’ve happened. I can’t really answer that.” [ESPN New York, Newsday]
