Just like last week, and all the weeks before that, Carmelo Anthony remained a Denver Nugget at week’s end, despite another round of trade buzz. First came the report of the latest proposal, in which the Knicks would give up only Wilson Chandler, Anthony Randolph, and Eddy Curry as part of a three-team deal — one that couldn’t have appealed very much to Minnesota. Then came a report that James Dolan had become involved in negotiations, which raised a whole new set of questions. Then word that the Lakers had held talks with the Nuggets. And that Anthony said he’d consider staying in Denver if he wasn’t traded. And lastly, word that, actually, the Lakers aren’t pursuing him, after all. The trade deadline, by the way, is less than two weeks away now. But what happened this week that didn’t involve the return of Isiah Thomas’s name to the newspaper?
