Actually, It Appears Bobby Valentine Isn’t Part of That Group That Wants to Buy a Piece of the Mets

So first, Bobby Valentine said that he’d spoken with people interested in buying the Mets but wasn’t formally involved with any group actively seeking to do so. Then, yesterday, the Post reported that Valentine was actually part of a group led by Anthony Scaramucci, the general manager of asset manager SkyBridge Capital, and that said group was one of just a few the Mets considered strong enough to actually buy a stake in the team. But alas, a piece in today’s Times says otherwise: “Contrary to published reports, Scaramucci’s group does not include Bobby Valentine, the former Mets manager.” One other tidbit from that Times piece: The group led by Steven Starker, the co-founder of global-trading firm BTIG, also includes Randy Frankel, a current minority owner of the Rays, and Doug Ellin, the creator of Entourage.
