In Which We Are Reminded That CC Sabathia Is Heavy

The Post brings us news today that CC Sabathia has signed on as a part owner of what the paper calls “a brash new Manhattan boob and beer joint.” It’s called Canz-a-Citi Roadhouse (really, it is), and it’s part of a small chain that’s taking on Hooters in the, well, boob-and-beer-joint market. But that’s fine — Sabathia can spend his money however he’d like. Here’s the line we’d rather not have read about the big lefty, courtesy of Steven Ferraro, co-founder of the brand and a friend of Sabathia’s: “His two passions are food and sports, so this is a good fit.” Considering that the Yankees are reportedly worried about what Sabathia’s weight could mean for him going forward, and considering that they may very well sign him to another long-term contract at some point in the next couple of months anyway, we’d rather not be reminded that Sabathia has a “passion” for food, even if that quote changes exactly nothing about Sabathia’s conditioning or what it might mean in the long run. Though we guess as long as Sabathia no longer has a passion for box after box of Cap’n Crunch, things could always be worse. [NYP]
