That Ball Derek Jeter Fouled Off Before Getting His 3,000th Hit Is Up for Auction Again

NEW YORK, NY - JULY 09: Derek Jeter #2 of the New York Yankees waves to the fans after a game in which he hit his 3000th career hit while playing against the Tampa Bay Rays at Yankee Stadium on July 9, 2011 in the Bronx borough of New York City. (Photo by Michael Heiman/Getty Images)

Over the summer, a baseball that Derek Jeter fouled off during the at-bat in which he got his 3,000th hit went up for auction, got a high bid of $17,392 (!), and didn’t sell because the reserve price wasn’t met (!!). So good news for anyone looking to add to their sort-of-noteworthy foul-ball collection: That same ball is up for auction again, at a different auction house. There’s one bid so far, for $10,000, but the reserve has already been met this time. [Lelands]
