St. John’s had been using just a seven-man rotation this year, and that was before point guard Nurideen Lindsey announced earlier this month that he planned to transfer from the school. (In a six-point win over Fordham at the Garden on Saturday, St. John’s used just six players — and one of them saw only four minutes of action.) But help is on the way: Amir Garrett, a highly touted member of Steve Lavin’s much-hyped recruiting class who’d been declared academically ineligible by the NCAA in September, has been cleared to play — just like Garrett’s father guaranteed three months ago. The six-foot-six forward could be in the lineup tonight when the Red Storm takes on Texas Pan-American at Carnesecca Arena. [NYDN, NYP]
