1. Annie’s Blue Ribbon General Store

The Old:
A bonanza of nostalgic toys, sleek home goods, and Kelly-green walls, occupying a mere 500 square feet in Boerum Hill for six years.
The New:
Twice the space and an expanded selection, including bins full of party favors like confetti Push Pops ($8), enamel pie sets imported from England ($75), and a Tattly temporary-tattoo vending machine. Now open.
2. Lockwood
32-15 33rd St., nr. Broadway, Astoria; 718-626-6030
The Old:
A converted garage formerly known as Site, where, since 2007, crafty Astorians trolled for silk-screened T-shirts, local artwork, and the odd vintage chest.
The New:
Vintage furniture galore, like industrial bar carts, a mid-century orange tweed lounge chair—from about $100 to $1,000—in a space spanning 1,300 square feet, with a backyard. Officially opening September 10.
3. Karen Karch
38 Gramercy Park N., nr. 21st St.; 212-965-9699
The Old:
A Mulberry Street tenement space that housed Karch’s gothic fine jewelry and vintage-inspired engagement rings for sixteen years.
The New:
An airy shop where the latest jewels range from a sterling-silver tag pendant ($350) to a black-diamond-encrusted solitaire ring ($10,000). Opening to the public on September 15, after a year of taking appointments only.
4. J. Mendel
787 Madison Ave., nr. 67th St.; 212-832-5830
The Old:
A lavish, two-story, eighteen-year-old flagship on Madison, strewn with the designer’s famed custom furs and red-carpet gowns.
The New:
A size-doubling megaflagship encompassing Mendel’s entire bridal collection as well as a made-to-order handbag program. Opening in October.
5. Jillery
107 Ave. B, nr. 7th St.; 212-674-9383
The Old:
Designer Jill Fagin’s signature geometric recycled-aluminum jewelry, nestled for nearly two decades in a subterranean East Village boutique-cum-studio.
The New:
A pink-purple façade leading to a “charm bar” for customizing jangly bracelets and an amped-up kids’ selection, including colorful $5 jewelry and spiky MadPax backpacks (from $48). Opening late September.
6. Fellow Barber
33 Crosby St., nr. Broome St.; 212-929-6014
The Old:
This men’s grooming mecca, né FSC Barber, opened in 2006 behind Rivington Street’s FSC clothing store and offered a handful of old-timey barber stations.
The New:
Eight stations accompanied by white metal mirrors and mahogany cabinets, a front-of-store apothecary (now manned by a grooming expert), and a backyard for bonus waiting room. Grand opening mid-September.
7. Academy Annex Records
83 Oak St., at Franklin St., Greenpoint; 718-218-8200
The Old:
A decade-old vinyl emporium in Williamsburg (once a twenties-era industrial cheese factory).
The New:
Roughly the same stock—new, vintage, and rare LPs ranging from early-1900s country to early-aughts punk—gracing 2,000 square feet of space. Projected move date is late September.
