Critical Mass Ride and After-Party
At this monthly ride starting at Union Square, cyclists can take back the streets—this time in costume. Afterward, head to Surreal Estate for a fund-raising dance party, with music by the Rude Mechanical Orchestra, an activist marching band that covers Le Tigre and Beyoncé. Food is provided by the organization’s “diving team” (as in, Dumpster diving). Yum.
Location: Union Square Park North (ride); Surreal Estate, 15 Thames St., nr. Morgan Ave., Williamsburg, Brooklyn; (party). Organized by Time’s Up!, 212-802-8222.

Todd P./Panache Big Halloween Bash

Location: Danbro Studios Warehouse @ Goldenrod Brewery, 268 Meserole St., nr. Bushwick Pl., Bushwick, Brooklyn; [email protected].
Time: 8 p.m.

Theater for the New City’s Costume Ball
This long-running party (31 years and counting) blends the standard Halloween bash with performance art; this year’s lineup includes burlesque and vaudeville-inspired pieces like stilt walkers and fire eaters. It’s capped off with a massive costume contest that’ll award prizes in conceptual categories like Most Botoxed, Most Mortgage-Defaulted, and Most Deregulated.
Location: Theater for the New City, 155 First Ave., nr. 10th St.; 212-254-1109.

World/Inferno Friendship Society’s Hallowmas
World Inferno’s cast of theatrical punks will actually have their own float in this year’s parade (fans are invited to help decorate and march alongside it). But the best way to see them is still their annual Hallowmas show, the only time they’ll play their fan-favorite, Peanuts-inspired song, “Pumpkin Time,” live.
Location: Brooklyn Masonic Temple, 317 Clermont Ave., at Lafayette Ave., Fort Greene, Brooklyn; 718-638-1256.
Time: 8 p.m..
