Recess Art hosts its second annual “Three’s a Crowd” benefit from 9 p.m. to midnight on Thursday, May 31, at the Salon at Tribeca Grand (2 Sixth Ave., nr. Walker St.; 212-519-6600). Attendees will be treated to an open bar, a silent auction, a D.J. set by Tanlines’s Jesse Cohen, a cater-waiter costumed performance by members of the FCKNLZ artist collective, and a screening of interview-format videos by onetime Recess artist-in-residence Leila Hekmat. If you’ve got $100 to spare, purchase a “commission envelope” and you’ll be paired with one of 35 Recess artists, who will create an original five-by-seven-inch artwork for you to keep. Tickets range from $67.50 to $500 and may be purchased online.
Gold Rush
The long-awaited “Gold, Jasper, and Carnelian: Johann Christian Neuber at the Saxon Court” exhibition opens Wednesday, May 30, at the Frick Museum (1 E. 70th St., at Fifth Ave.; 212-288-0700) and runs through August 19. By 1775, master goldsmith Neuber was appointed court jeweler of the Saxon Court; by 1785, he was named curator of the Grünes Gewölbe (Green Vault), a treasure trove belonging to Augustus the Strong. The oeuvre surveyed here includes finely detailed gold boxes, watch cases adorned with semi-precious stones, chatelaines, steinkabinetts, a host of furnishings incorporating Meissen porcelain plaques, and his exquisite Breteuil Table, a wood, gilded bronze, and faux-pearl creation never before displayed in the United States. Admission is $18 for adults, $15 for seniors, and $10 for students. Children under 10 are not admitted.

Rejoice, disciples of DwellStudio: Your favorite furniture website is finally getting a brick-and-mortar flagship in New York City. The company plans to open shop at 77 Wooster Street on Friday, June 1. The space, designed by architects Will Meyer and Gray Davis, will feature all of the company’s online fare, plus unusual vintage finds and custom-design furnishings.
Dream On
Midtown scenester magnet the Dream Hotel has unveiled yet another party space within its vast holdings: the elegant Bar at Dream New York (210 W. 55th St., nr. Broadway; 212-247-2000). The Jody Singleton–designed boîte, which features rich wood floors and dark leather furniture contrasted by white embossed brick walls, targets the post-work crowd, as well as the well-heeled private-party set. It opens to the public on Thursday, May 31.
