Walking west on 17th Street after a delicious dinner at Crema last week, I stopped dead in my tracks in front of a beautiful open space behind a glass storefront. It turned out to be the much-buzzed-about Haven’s Kitchen (109 W. 17th St., nr. Sixth Ave.; havenskitchen.com). Haven’s Kitchen is a new shop, cooking school, and event space rolled into one magnificent duplex in a former carriage house, renovated and designed by owner Alison Schneider (who, by the way, runs the place while also raising five young children).
