Before it was the urban-rustic apartment featured in our latest “Home Design” issue, Zach Braff’s Union Square home was the domain of late Broadway director Tom O’Horgan. While Braff is a musical lover himself, the eccentric O’Horgan (Jesus Christ Superstar, Hair) took his music obsession to another level, literally covering his eleventh-floor home in instruments he collected from around the globe. O’Horgan’s collection of small percussive instruments (as well as a few puppets and masks) blanket the wall of what is now Braff’s office/guest room. The large Masonic drum”dated 1899 and from the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks’ Los Angeles chapter”was purchased by Braff and currently holds court in his dining room.
