First Look: Coming Up Roses

You might recognize Topping Rose House (1 Bridgehampton, Sag Harbor Tpke., Bridgehampton) as the noble wreck just off Route 27. The 1842 mansion has been lovingly restored by a talented team that includes the owners Bill Campbell and Simon Critchell; architecture firm Roger Ferris & Partners; interior designers from Champalimaud; and restaurateur Tom Colicchio. In early 2013 it will become a full-service inn with 22 guest rooms, a fitness center, and a pool. Photo: Courtesy of Topping Rose House

The house is a historical gem. It was built for Judge Abraham Topping Rose, the son of a Revolutionary War surgeon. The judge lived there with his wife and six children until he died in 1857. The original wraparound porch has been fully restored. Photo: Courtesy of Topping Rose House

Next summer you’ll be able to dine on the porch that leads to a barroom with two fireplaces. Behind the bar, a 50-seat dining room serves seasonal American food using produce from the inn’s one-acre farm. Photo: Courtesy of Topping Rose House

The two-story barn was built slightly later than the original house. It’s been restored, and now it’s the perfect venue for private parties and events. Photo: Courtesy of Topping Rose House
