Victory for Paterson As Legislature Approves Health-Care Cuts

New York State lawmakers signed off on a David Paterson plan Monday night that will cut hundreds of millions of dollars in the health-care budget. The emergency spending bill — which needed to pass in order to keep the government running — included $775 million in cuts to Medicaid and other health-care programs. The fed-up governor is expected to propose cuts to education and local-government funding in the near future as additional “budget extenders.” [NYT, NYDN]
