Lou Dobbs, the news anchor who hosted shows on CNN for many years before parting ways over certain opinionated elements of his program, has signed a multi-year deal with Fox Business Network. According to a statement by FBN vice-president Kevin Magee, Dobbs will “develop and host a new daily program premiering in the first quarter of 2011. He will also make appearances across a variety of FBN programs to provide analysis and commentary on business news of the day.” The “multi-year” aspect of the deal will likely throw water on the hopes of those people who thought he would be a good political candidate in 2012. Though his spokesman confirmed recently that Dobbs was considering a Senate run that year as an “intermediary step” toward the White House, a daily television gig would probably bar him from engaging in a race.
