At the first official (rain-soaked) day of the Republican National Convention, the theme of the day centered on whether or not we “built it” and how well we “built it” and how Mitt Romney could presumably help us build more of “it,” whatever “it” might be. But before hearing the word “built” so many times it started to lose meaning, we were already sick and tired of the word “freedom.” It’s an oft-overused phrase in Republican speeches in general since 9/11 and last night’s speakers were there to make sure “freedom” would not be overshadowed by the shorter, less patriotic word, “built.” Check out our video recap for last night’s many references to “freedom.”
