Normalcy might be a long way off in Atlantic City, but two tenets of it are returning on Friday: casinos and tap water. At least the casinos have Governor Chris Christie’s permission to reopen, but it’s still unclear when they all will, given the difficulty in getting employees to work and equipment online. The only specific opening time we’ve seen is the Borgata, which told the Associated Press it was planning to open at 4 p.m. The city says the casinos were largely undamaged in the storm, and have been losing a collective $5 million a day in revenue since they were forced to close. So Friday’s announcement couldn’t come soon enough. Christie also announced the “boil water” advisory for Atlantic City had been lifted, which is going to make operating those casinos (not to mention getting a glass of water) a lot simpler.
