When nearly a dozen phone calls were made to 911 from a phone registered to Katie Couric’s late husband Jay Monahan, police suspected someone was “spoofing” the number as a prank. The mystery has been solved, and it’s neither supernatural, nor a scam. “There was old wiring that literally would get crossed and send out a series of tones,” a source tells the Daily News, explaining that the tones would occasionally dial 911 randomly.
