Megyn Kelly Will Keep Explaining Things to Karl Rove on Fox News [Updated]

America Live host and Fox News election night star Megyn Kelly has extended her contract at the top-rated network after her boss Roger Ailes dared her to try leaving, calling it “a real dive off a high cliff.” With her star shining extra bright post-November, Ailes told TV Newser, “I’d be stunned if she wanted to go any other cable channel  … Nobody’s ever left here and made it.” She decided not to test it, the New York Times reports today, despite taking meetings with CNN and ABC. Kelly, a nine-year veteran of the network, joins other long-serving marquee names like Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilly, and Karl Rove, in addition to Ailes, who have all pledged extended allegiance to Rupert Murdoch for the time being.

Update: Greta Van Susteren also signed an extension, the Times adds, and might move from her 10 p.m. slot, thus freeing up a night gig for Kelly, who’s been stuck in the afternoons. “I’d like to spend some quality time with my wife, at least before 11 p.m.,” Van Susteren’s husband told the paper.
