Photographer Allen Henson and his 19-year-old model friend Cheyenne Lutek — hired via Craigslist, obviously — are in the midst of a not-safe-for-work project about body acceptance, the legality of female boobs in New York City, and art or whatever. But snapping a cell-phone pic with cops was for kicks.
“We were just having a good time,” Henson explained to Daily Intelligencer. “It was social satire, an open dialogue. The guys in blue enforce these laws, so they should know them, right? We just wanted to put ‘em to the test.” The NYPD is not as amused as the guys in the photos.
The Daily News reports that the East Village officers are now facing an internal investigation. “It’s not illegal!” Henson told us. “Worst-case scenario, they get yelled at by their boss-man for a hot minute. He probably doesn’t want his guys running around acting like schmucks, but they’ll be all right.”
It all happened pretty fast, anyway. “The little verbalization from the guy with the arm tattoo,” Henson said, “was, ‘Wait a minute — where’s this going?’ Dun dun dun … ”
