After new chief Bill Bratton blamed the “awful” department morale on previous leadership, the former top cop’s older brother called into a radio show to mount a personal defense. “I’m mad as hell, so I’ll try to calm down … I never cared for Bratton and I think I’m right about that,” said Donald Kelly, who was quizzed on personal details to confirm his identity, since it is April 1. “I think it’s a cheap shot by Bratton. I think he’s paranoid of Ray as [he] always has been, and he’s a backslapping, smiling guy.” The next gala these guys end up at together is going to be awkward.
