An art teacher in the Mexican village of Pinotepa de Don Luis started a program for kids that (to really make a very long story short) ultimately ended up in a project for Converse. The results are these very cool high-tops hand-painted by the kids, who produce about 80 pairs a month. Each pair is one of a kind and was formerly only available in Mexico and Europe, but this month, Atrium has a portion of the 80 pairs allocated to the U.S. Run, don’t walk.
$300 at Atrium, 644 Broadway, at Bleecker St., 212-473-9200.
