In The Odd Couple, the home of Oscar Madison serves as refuge and torture chamber to the newly separated Felix Ungar. It’s the uncredited third star of what is, arguably, the perfect sitcom. Would you want to live there, though? As it turns out, you might—given that, in real life, it’s a sweet Connecticut farmhouse. Built in the 1780s and retaining its hand-hewn ceiling beams and multiple fireplaces, this house was for seven years home to Jack Klugman and his then-wife, Brett Somers. In 1965, when they moved here, Klugman was a Broadway star, having just replaced Walter Matthau in The Odd Couple, which led him to slobby TV greatness. (You may remember Somers, too, from her standing gig on the quiz show Match Game.) A plaque on one wall of the house commemorates owners going all the way back to the builder, a Colonial-era fellow named Stephen Hurlbutt.
