You’ve probably never heard of Ohio Knitting Mills, a Cleveland-based company that was the source of sweaters for everyone from Pendleton to Saks. The company closed several years ago but left behind a collection of over 10,000 samples. Artist Steven Tatar rescued the stock and subsequently opened an Ohio Knitting Mills in Brooklyn. He has enough to keep the store going for at least three years, but once the sweaters are gone, they’re gone.
Prices from $68 at Ohio Knitting Mills, 231 Smith St., nr. Butler St., Boerum Hill, Brooklyn; 718-596-7103.
