When the Parks Department replaced a stretch of Coney Island’s original 1923 boardwalk with concrete last winter, the weatherworn planks were destined for the landfill. But as luck would have it, local furniture maker (and Circus Sideshow prop builder) Chris Miano had a friend in common with the head of the demolition crew and salvaged 5,000 feet of condemned lumber. Under the handle Huckster Fabrication, Miano and partner Max Doland have turned the Ipe hardwood into frames, jewelry cases, and shadow boxes, and filled each with antique Coney Island memorabilia, like tickets to the Thunderbolt.
