Prime Day is officially here, which means there are thousands of deals out there. While it is a good time to score a big discount on coveted tech products, don’t forget about deals on daily essentials you’d buy anyway. This is the time to stock up on toothpaste, mouthwash, vitamins — the “unsexy stuff,” as our editor, Maxine Builder, says. It’s also the moment to upgrade your manual toothbrush to a fancy electric one or finally treat yourself to a Shiatsu foot massager.
As the Strategist’s personal-care writer, I’m particularly well equipped to guide you through these Prime Day deals. Many of the standouts, below, are among the dozens of products I’ve tested myself. To get to the list, I’ve sifted through the health and wellness sales and prioritized actually good deals on things we’ve written about before. From there, I made sure those discounts were substantial (you won’t see a measly 5 or 10 percent off on this list). And I’ve also noted if this is the lowest price we’ve seen on a product by using the Camelcamelcamel tool. To make shopping easy, everything’s sorted into subcategories, and you can jump to each section using the table of contents. And if you’re looking for even more excellent deals, be sure to visit our main hub page, where you’ll find the best discounts on categories ranging from beauty and fashion to tech and home goods.
Editor’s note: I’ve finished my last update to this post today, but Prime Day doesn’t end until 2:59 a.m. EST. You can keep shopping until then, but any prices and stock below are subject to change (so don’t dillydally). And as always, we suggest you sign up for our newsletter so you never miss a good sale.
Best oral health deals
If you want to track your brushing habits, this is a great toothbrush to start with. It’s a souped-up version of our best overall electric toothbrush, so it comes with Bluetooth capabilities, five cleaning modes, and a pressure sensor. And it’s only $60 today.
Philips Sonicare is another major player in the electric toothbrush space and widely praised by dentists for busting plaque. One Strategist contributor called this specific model the “the Tesla” of electric toothbrushes. As he wrote, “Brushing itself feels like a mouth massage, gentle while still providing adequate pressure.”
This model is about $40 cheaper and a longtime favorite among Strategist staffers. Writer Dominique Pariso said it was the best thing she bought in 2019, and senior editor Simone Kitchens credits hers for impressing her dentist, whom she hadn’t seen in a year and a half.
Now’s the perfect time to snag our best overall Waterpik while it’s half off. Its spacious water tank means you won’t have to refill it in the middle of flossing, and it’s known to have “the strongest engine on the market,” according to one dentist we spoke to.
For just $5 more, you can get our favorite cordless Waterpik, which is especially great for small countertops. Its compact design and long-lasting battery life make it ideal for travel.
If you need an even more compact Waterpik, its newest model is 30 percent off. At just $63, that’s the lowest price we’ve ever seen it.
Another way to clear off some counter space is to combine your brushing and flossing into one device so you don’t have to set up both a Waterpik and electric toothbrush. “It removes the harmful bacteria and debris deep between teeth and below the gumline that traditional brushing and dental floss can’t reach,” one dentist told us.
Crest’s ADA-approved whitening strips use hydrogen peroxide to give you a brighter smile without the messiness of bleaching trays. Plus they’re thin enough that you can talk and drink while wearing them.
This set comes with an additional light to help speed up the whitening process. It’s only $15 more than the regular kit with the Prime Day discount.
If you want to go the all-natural route, these Lumineux strips use coconut oil instead of hydrogen peroxide. The whitening strips are mess-free, like Crest’s, but gentler on sensitive teeth.
As we’ve said, some of the best Prime Day deals are on household essentials like toothpaste. This one is beloved by dentists because it uses a chemical whitening agent rather than a physical one, so it won’t damage your pearly whites.
Stock up on our favorite fluoride-free toothpaste while it’s half off. Dentists like it because it contains xylitol, “a plus for fighting cavities,” and SLS, “which is thought to help remove debris through foaming saponification, or what we see as sudsing, bubbling, foaming texture.”
Or, if you need more mouthwash, consider this gentler but still super-effective alcohol-free mouthwash. It contains CPC, which is standard for efficacy across alcohol-free mouthwash options.
Don’t neglect your tongue, which experts recommend having a separate brush for. Unlike the soft bristles found on a toothbrush, this one has bristles hard enough to remove biofilm from your tongue.
Oral-B makes our favorite overall kids’ toothbrush because it comes with a sensitive brush head with soft bristles and a built-in timer. This one has a fun doodle design and is just $35 today.
Best massage tool deals
Our best overall foot massager is more than 50 percent off, taking $130 off its original price. The Renpho uses air compression, optional heat, round nodes, and a textured rolling spool to deliver a deep Shiatsu-style massage.
If you’re looking for a back and neck massager, the already well-priced one from HoMedics is an extra 30 percent off today. It offers multidirectional Shiatsu massage, heat in one speed, and optional vibration to further relax stiff muscles.
This “glovelike” massage tool “helps improve blood flow from your toes to your knees” and is deeply discounted today. It has three massage modes, three intensity levels, and two heat settings, and the removable inner lining makes washing a breeze.
The Theragun Mini is on sale, but if you want to get more bang for your buck, we recommend going for one of the more souped-up massage guns because they’re more deeply discounted. Art curator Larry Ossei-Mensah told us he uses his after bike rides to prevent injuries. “This allows me to massage my quads and calves while I’m watching TV,” he says.
Theragun’s most advanced model is even more discounted, taking $250 off its original price. It delivers a professional-grade massage, and it has been recommended to us by dozens of athletes for recovery.
An inexpensive way to massage your feet is with a tennis ball. Instead of a standard one, go for this easy-to-clean, slip-resistant massage ball.
Experience a full-body DIY deep-tissue massage for just $28. This particular foam roller is a favorite among professional athletes because its bumps and ridges simulate a hands-on massage and the firm core helps it keep its shape even after years of use.
Like acupuncture, this mat relieves pain through “touch and pressure,” but unlike acupuncture, it is noninvasive and inexpensive. Former Strategist writer Lori Keong says after five or six minutes, her soreness “mysteriously melted away and didn’t return. I could roll my arms back and forth without any lingering tension — something I hadn’t been able to do for days.”
Best health supplement deals
Stock up on Vital Proteins’s collagen powder while it’s just $32 — the lowest price we’ve ever seen it drop to. Actress and model Molly Sims adds it to all her smoothies and juices, and says that after six months of using it she has seen an improvement in her hair and skin and even “feels younger.”
For a plant-based option at the same price, go for Orgain’s Organic Protein. Nutritionists like that it tastes good and has “clean ingredients without a bunch of fillers.”
Liquid IV is an excellent supplement if you struggle with daily water intake. Actor Alyson Stoner drinks a packet every day, and says, “My energy is steadier, and my mood is better because I’m not as dehydrated.”
These fizzy, electrolyte-packed tablets are excellent for recovery after long runs and even for curing hangovers. The flavors are actually refreshing compared with the overly sweet alternatives.
Keep all your supplements stored in one place with this pill organizer described by one Strategist contributor as a “Mary Poppins medicine cabinet.” The small but mighty case is our best less-expensive pick — and is even cheaper than usual today.
For even more space, our expert-recommended case for twice-a-day pill organizing is also just $7. Each daily compartment can be taken on the go, and they all fit neatly in a durable travel case.
Since you’re going restock your daily multivitamins at some point, you might as well buy them now while they’re half off. This one is our top recommended pick for men because it’s USP-certified and contains 22 key nutrients without things that men need less of, like iron.
In that same vein, our best overall women’s multivitamin is more than $10 off today. It contains iron, which women lose during menstruation, but not calcium, because it interferes with iron absorption. (Be sure to act fast though, since this is a lightning deal and stock is limited.)
If B12 is part of your daily routine or you’re looking to add it in, Nature’s Bounty is 30 percent off right now. (And if you’re on the fence, here’s a handy article from the Cut in which a registered dietician talks about its benefits.)
Tomás Matos told us they like drinking Emergen-C to support their immune system, and this version is especially good for travel. Instead of mixing it in water, you can just pour it in your mouth, like healthy Pop Rocks.
Also at its lowest price ever is Olly’s Beat the Bloat capsules. It’s formulated with digestive enzymes and botanical extracts to relieve bloat caused by digestion woes, gas, and water retention.
If you deal with heartburn, nausea, and any other run-of-the-mill stomachaches, be sure to stock up on Wonderbelly’s antacid tablets while they’re just $8. The tasty chewable tablets are free from talc, parabens, dyes, and artificial sweeteners.
As a seasonal allergy sufferer, I cannot recommend these enough. They contain the same amount of antihistamine as other name brands but come at a fraction of the price. I bought mine last year, take them religiously in the spring, and have yet to run out.
Best personal grooming deals
Strategist contributor Rio Viera-Newton swears by these workhorse toenail clippers that are 25 percent off today. “They have a sharp, curved blade that easily slices off any toenail, no matter how strong or hard or gnarly it has gotten, and a nonslip, cushion grip that allows for quick, clean trims,” she writes. “Unlike the other clippers I tried, you barely need to squeeze them for them to work perfectly.”
For those with limited mobility, podiatrists recommend this nail clipper that’s larger than most for better grip and has a blade head that swivels 180 degrees. And today, it’s priced at the lowest we’ve ever seen it.
Slough off calluses with minimal effort using Amopé’s expert-recommended electric foot file. Users compare it to an electric sandpaper roll that scrubs off dead skin, and it has different frequencies of intensity, so you can turn it up depending on your needs.
This intense foot exfoliation mask, which New York Times book reviewer Molly Young once called a “podiatric miracle,” is $10 off in time for sandal season. Just be sure to grab it on sale while you can, since this is a lightning deal.
Here’s a foot mask Viera-Newton prefers over Baby Foot, which she found too intense. Instead, this mask left her skin “absurdly, silkily smooth with no cracks or dry patches at all” after about eight days of shedding like a snake.
For a natural deodorant that lasts, we recommend our best overall pick from Ursa Major. “No matter what the weather’s like or how crazy my day gets, the Hoppin’ Fresh deodorant gets the job done without screaming ‘dirty hippie,’” says one beauty writer.
Dermatologist-approved brand Nécessaire has a deodorant gel made with AHAs and niacinamide, which work together to cut down on stink, help with discoloration, and tame underarm bumps. And, you can get it for a couple dollars off its regular price.
Keith Pollock told us about this all-in-one pair of clippers, which he uses in between haircuts to sculpt his sideburns and even his beard. “What I like about it is that it’s wide but also really short, and the blade contours to your head and is easy to clean,” he says. “I really did a lot of field research here, so I can say confidently these are the best.”
This versatile, expert-recommended beard trimmer is just $90 today. It has 19 different length settings and can run for up to an hour when unplugged.
Barbers like this aptly named trimmer designed for below-the-belt grooming because it “doesn’t grab or yank” the hair and is “really easy to maneuver.” It’s also waterproof, has 90 minutes of battery life, and is just $63 today.
This cult-classic body butter doubles as an excellent shaving cream for dry skin. One dermatologist told us its shea butter, coconut oil, and sodium hyaluronate are key for moisturizing and nourishing skin pre- and post-shave.
More health and wellness deals
The 23andMe Health + Ancestry kit tracks your lineage and family history and reports on predictive-health findings by using a sample of your DNA. (Just spit into the included tube, and mail it back in the prepaid packaging.) Today, you can get all that for just $99 — that’s half off its usual price.
If the temps are above 70 degrees, I won’t leave my apartment without my portable fan. I have the VersionTech fan we wrote about years ago, but I’m debating replacing it with this much sleeker compact option now that it’s under $15.
Now’s the time to finally switch over to a bidet. Our top favorite easy-to-install, cold- and warm-water Tushy bidet is priced lower than ever today.
August is taking 20 percent off of its tampons, pads, and liners, so now’s the time to stock up. All of its products are made with 100 percent organic cotton and are free from harmful chemicals, toxins, pesticides, and dyes.
Save money now and in the long run with this discounted menstrual cup. Its indentations on the sides help with insertion and placement, according to one expert. But if you’re looking for a beginner-friendly cup, the brand’s disc (made with a finger notch for seamless insertion and removal) is on sale, too.
As someone who frequently gets migraines, I can say this little ice cap does wonders. Get non-medicated, nearly instant relief for just $22.
This already well-priced smart bathroom scale is an extra 30 percent off, bringing its price down to just $70. It has the ability to measure full-body composition (including weight, BMI, body fat, and muscle percentages) and track nutrition on the accompanying app. Plus, up to eight people can use it and the scale will automatically recognize who’s stepping on it each time.
