While it is a good time to score a big discount on coveted tech products, don’t forget about deals on daily essentials you’d buy anyway. This is the time to stock up on toothpaste, mouthwash, vitamins — the “unsexy stuff,” as our editor, Maxine Builder, says. It’s also the moment to upgrade your manual toothbrush to a fancy electric one or finally treat yourself to a Shiatsu foot massager.
As the Strategist’s personal-care writer, I’m particularly well equipped to guide you through these Prime Day deals. Many of the standouts, below, are among the dozens of products I’ve tested myself. If you want to track your brushing habits, this is a great toothbrush to start with. It’s a souped-up version of our best overall electric toothbrush, so it comes with Bluetooth capabilities, five cleaning modes, and a pressure sensor. And it’s only $60 today.
Philips Sonicare is another major player in the electric toothbrush space and widely praised by dentists for busting plaque. One Strategist contributor called this specific model the “the Tesla” of electric toothbrushes. As he wrote, “Brushing itself feels like a mouth massage, gentle while still providing adequate pressure.”

Another way to clear off some counter space is to combine your brushing and flossing into one device so you don’t have to set up both a Waterpik and electric toothbrush. “It removes the harmful bacteria and debris deep between teeth and below the gumline that traditional brushing and dental floss can’t reach,” one dentist told us.
Crest’s ADA-approved whitening strips use hydrogen peroxide to give you a brighter smile without the messiness of bleaching trays. Plus they’re thin enough that you can talk and drink while wearing them.
This set comes with an additional light to help speed up the whitening process. It’s only $15 more than the regular kit with the Prime Day discount.
If you want to go the all-natural route, these Lumineux strips use coconut oil instead of hydrogen peroxide. The whitening strips are mess-free, like Crest’s, but gentler on sensitive teeth.
As we’ve said, some of the best Prime Day deals are on household essentials like toothpaste. This one is beloved by dentists because it uses a chemical whitening agent rather than a physical one, so it won’t damage your pearly whites.
Stock up on our favorite fluoride-free toothpaste while it’s half off. Dentists like it because it contains xylitol, “a plus for fighting cavities,” and SLS, “which is thought to help remove debris through foaming saponification, or what we see as sudsing, bubbling, foaming texture.”
Or, if you need more mouthwash, consider this gentler but still super-effective alcohol-free mouthwash. It contains CPC, which is standard for efficacy across alcohol-free mouthwash options.
Don’t neglect your tongue, which experts recommend having a separate brush for. Unlike the soft bristles found on a toothbrush, this one has bristles hard enough to remove biofilm from your tongue.
Oral-B makes our favorite overall kids’ toothbrush because it comes with a sensitive brush head with soft bristles and a built-in timer. This one has a fun doodle design and is just $35 today.
Best massage tool deals
Our best overall foot massager is more than 50 percent off, taking $130 off its original price. The Renpho uses air compression, optional heat, round nodes, and a textured rolling spool to deliver a deep Shiatsu-style massage.
If you’re looking for a back and neck massager, the already well-priced one from HoMedics is an extra 30 percent off today. It offers multidirectional Shiatsu massage, heat in one speed, and optional vibration to further relax stiff muscles.
This “glovelike” massage tool “helps improve blood flow from your toes to your knees” and is deeply discounted today. It has three massage modes, three intensity levels, and two heat settings, and the removable inner lining makes washing a breeze.
The Theragun Mini is on sale, but if you want to get more bang for your buck, we recommend going for one of the more souped-up massage guns because they’re more deeply discounted. Art curator Larry Ossei-Mensah told us he uses his after bike rides to prevent injuries. “This allows me to massage my quads and calves while I’m watching TV,” he says.

Experience a full-body DIY deep-tissue massage for just $28. This particular foam roller is a favorite among professional athletes because its bumps and ridges simulate a hands-on massage and the firm core helps it keep its shape even after years of use.
Like acupuncture, this mat relieves pain through “touch and pressure,” but unlike acupuncture, it is noninvasive and inexpensive. Former Strategist writer Lori Keong says after five or six minutes, her soreness “mysteriously melted away and didn’t return. Stock up on Vital Proteins’s collagen powder while it’s just $32 — the lowest price we’ve ever seen it drop to. Actress and model Molly Sims adds it to all her smoothies and juices, and says that after six months of using it she has seen an improvement in her hair and skin and even “feels younger.”
For a plant-based option at the same price, go for Orgain’s Organic Protein. Nutritionists like that it tastes good and has “clean ingredients without a bunch of fillers.”
Liquid IV is an excellent supplement if you struggle with daily water intake. Actor Alyson Stoner drinks a packet every day, and says, “My energy is steadier, and my mood is better because I’m not as dehydrated.”
These fizzy, electrolyte-packed tablets are excellent for recovery after long runs and even for curing hangovers. The flavors are actually refreshing compared with the overly sweet alternatives.

Strategist contributor Rio Viera-Newton swears by these workhorse toenail clippers that are 25 percent off today. “They have a sharp, curved blade that easily slices off any toenail, no matter how strong or hard or gnarly it has gotten, and a nonslip, cushion grip that allows for quick, clean trims,” she writes. “Unlike the other clippers I tried, you barely need to squeeze them for them to work perfectly.”
