Winter’s Almost Over. Time to Buy a (Really Cheap) Parka.

As any good-deal hunter knows, the best time to buy something is actually the worst time to buy something: when you don’t need it anymore. With spring right around the corner, I’ve noticed plenty of winter gear hitting the sales bins for as much as 70 percent off, and some of the best deals are on winter coats. Right now, you can find Patagonia parkas for half off (a rare deal), Gap puffers for over $100 off, and North Faces for under $200. Sure, you won’t need it for much longer this season, but you’ll be grateful you bit the bullet come November. Below, I’ve rounded up the best warm, well-reviewed parkas for women, men, and kids on sale for big discounts right now.

Women’s parkas

Gap Big Puff Jacket
From $57
From $57

Gap’s Big Puff jacket features ribbed storm cuffs, a faux-fur trim, and a cinched waist complete with a tie belt. It’s filled with PrimaLoft P.U.R.E., which apparently produces half as much carbon emission as traditional manufacturing methods.

Gap Oversize Nylon Parka
$103
$103

This non-filled version is a tad longer and would make a good transitional jacket from winter to spring.

REI’s in-house clothing brand is already cheaper than most, and now its 650-fill-power duck down coat is $160. It has a lined hood and comes in four colors: black, ocher, green (pictured here), and clay.

Here’s an option from Levi’s that’s definitely among the brand’s more fashionable options.

Patagonia Women’s Cotton Down Parka
From $174
From $174

The cheapest you’ll ever find a Patagonia parka. Bet.

If you’ve already got the Strategist-beloved ThermoBall slippers, it just makes sense to get the matching jacket.

The plus-size version, which goes up to 3X, is also on sale.

This is more heavy duty than it looks: It boasts a two-layer waterproof shell and is insulated with 850-fill-power goose down.

If you’re looking for a parka to tackle the slopes in, Mountain Hardwear’s Firefall is a good bet (and $90 off right now).

Another good option for snowy days, this North Face is insulated with 600-fill-power recycled waterfowl down.

$245

I love the color of this Cotopaxi coat.

From $280

For the eco-conscious, the Recycled Planet Company’s Dida parka is crafted from 100 percent recycled polyester (mostly derived from plastic water bottles) and 85 percent repurposed down. It also features recycled two-way front zippers.

Same ecofriendly materials, but this one has a hood and horizontal puffs.

Men’s parkas

Zella Raid Longline Puffer Jacket
From $68
From $68

Leave it to Zella (Nordstrom’s in-house brand) to have a superb (and now sub-$100) parka on sale.

$279

The most parka-looking parka I ever did see. It has a removable faux-fur ruff, recycled fleece-lined hand warmer, and PrimaLoft filling (spun from recycled plastic bottles). And it’s marked way down right now.

In our guide to the best men’s parkas, the owner of a Seattle-based boat-tour company recommended Mountain Hardwear’s hoodie for its warmth and range of motion. I found the parka version, which is a bit more heavy duty, on sale in mustard yellow at the brand’s website and in Army green at REI.

Promises not to swish.

$280

A classic North Face parka, now $120 off. It’s waterproof, made from recycled nylon and polyester, and insulated with 600-fill-power recycled waterfowl down.

Kids’ parkas

$54

Help your little one stand out in the crowd with this windproof, water-repellent, and recycled-fleece lined coat. It’s now just $54, which is a much easier price to stomach for something they’ll grow out of.

J.Crew Kids’ Short Parka
$80
$80

Also well priced for the growing kid.
