Lydia Hamza & Gustavo Marcus
Stage 6 at Steiner Studios, Brooklyn Navy Yard
January 26, 2007
Gustavo proposed to Lydia at Nobu with a ring tucked inside a mini box of Vosges chocolates, after which he whisked her to a suite in the Tribeca Grand to celebrate. When Lydia opened the door, she found their Yorkshire terrier waiting for them. “It wouldn’t be an engagement party without Daisy,” explains Gustavo. The Williamsburg dwellers wanted to get married in their borough. “Stage 6, a movie studio in the historic Brooklyn Navy Yard, was the first place we looked at, while it was still under construction,” says Gustavo. “We were literally walking around in hard hats.” Relying only on artists’ renderings, computer images, and swatches, they booked a Friday night in January (and got a great rate). “We wanted a winter look,” says Gustavo, who chose the linens, flowers, and décor for the party. In the end, “the room was like a little jewel box.”
