This project does not imply that NAACP_LDF endorses the Strategist or eBay.
This month, eBay, in partnership with the Strategist, went back to some of our favorite celebrity shoppers — including writer Roxane Gay — to ask them about things that they can live without and would be willing to sell at auction for charity. All proceeds will go to the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund (eBay is receiving and donating all proceeds and matching every dollar the auction earns). Now that I’m not broke the way I used to be, I have a fondness for bags. But I’m butch and don’t carry a purse, so I’m always looking for bags that fit my style. Louis Vuitton just makes gorgeous, gorgeous bags, and they have this particular material called epi leather that is beautiful, textured, and simple. Anytime I can find something in epi leather that I can afford (and need), I am there.
I bought this at the Louis Vuitton store in Beverly Hills in 2018. I was looking for something more effective and professional than my pocket and a flimsy tote bag, because I wanted to project that I’m a capable mature adult who knows how to manage her personal space. I didn’t buy it just for vanity — I was looking for a solution. When I was using this, I was using it every day. The bag has a lot of great pockets; I go to a lot of meetings, and sometimes I need to carry things like a tablet, notebook, charger, hairbrush, or whatever else I might need throughout my day. I’ve even carried my engagement ring in it.
The Strategist is designed to surface the most useful, expert recommendations for things to buy across the vast e-commerce landscape. Some of our latest conquests include the best acne treatments, rolling luggage, pillows for side sleepers, natural anxiety remedies, and bath towels. We update links when possible, but note that deals can expire and all prices are subject to change.
